I am pleased to update you on the Bhotekoshi Hydropower Project, a significant initiative in Bhotekoshi Rural Municipality, Sindhupalchowk District. Designed as a run-of-the-river project, it aims to harness the Bhotekoshi Khola’s potential, making a substantial contribution to Nepal’s sustainable energy portfolio. Our strategic progress includes the installation of a 2.5 km 132 kV transmission line connecting to the nearby Upper Chaku Khola Hydroelectric Project, enhancing grid integration. Hydrologically, the project benefits from a large 2210 km² catchment area, supporting impressive hydraulic specifications and enabling a generating capacity of 40 MW.
Key infrastructure, such as the 40 m concrete diversion weir and the advanced settling basin, reflects our commitment to operational excellence and environmental stewardship. The underground powerhouse, equipped with two Francis turbines producing 20.9 MW each, underscores our focus on efficiency and reliability. Financially, with a total investment of NRs. 7.975 billion and compelling metrics including an NPV of 2742.716 million NRs., an IRR of 14.42%, and a B/C ratio of 1.42, the project demonstrates strong economic viability.
